Choral Conductor
Martina Batič is one of the leading choral conductors of her generation. In 2006, as the winner of the prestigious Eric Ericson Award Competition, she achieved international recognition and established herself as an artist of exceptional versatility, with a repertoire ranging from chamber music to large-scale vocal and symphonic works.
Since the 2023/24 season, Martina Batič has been Chief Conductor of the Danish National Vocal Ensemble at Danish Radio House in Copenhagen, and since the 2024/25 season, Chief Conductor of the Gulbenkian Choir at Foundation Gulbenkian in Lisbon. As a sought-after guest conductor, she regularly collaborates with leading European choirs and ensembles, including RIAS Kammerchor, Rundfunkchor Berlin, SWR Vokalensemble, Swedish Radio Choir, Nederlands Kamerkoor, Netherlands Radio Choir, Norwegian Soloists’ Choir, and other renowned ensembles.
Her artistic work has taken her to major international festivals, including the Baltic Sea Festival in Stockholm, Ultima Festival in Oslo, RheinVokal in Germany, Choralies d’Orange, festivals in Montpellier, Saint-Denis and Présences in Paris, as well as the Hong Kong Arts Festival and Granada Festival.
From 2018 to 2022, Martina Batič was Chief Conductor and Musical director of Chœur de Radio France. Prior to that, she served as Artistic Director of the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir and as Chorus master of the Choir of the Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana. She regularly leads masterclasses and workshops for conductors and choirs and serves as a jury member at important international choral and conducting competitions.
Martina Batič comes from Ajdovščina, Slovenia, where she took her first musical steps at the Vinko Vodopivec Music School. This was the beginning of her musical journey, which continued at the Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, where she completed her Master’s degree in choral conducting with distinction in 2004.
For her artistic achievements in the field of choral conducting, Martina Batič received the Prešeren Fund Award, Slovenia’s highest national recognition for artistic achievement, and the Fifth of May Award of the Municipality of Ajdovščina, both in 2019.
